We ask our patients to wear retainers after treatment to prevent their teeth from shifting back into their original position, undoing the hard work they just went through.
Retainers are simple, but it’s critical to wear them properly to preserve your beautiful and healthy smile.
Remember the 3 Cs of wearing your retainer the right way:
Continuous use: For the first 9 months, almost all retainers need to be worn continuously day and night.
Clean twice a day: Use a toothbrush, toothpaste, and fresh water to remove food particles and plaque from your retainer.
Case closed: Store your retainer in its case when you need to remove it and don’t make adjustments to the retainer.
One more tip. It’s normal if it takes a little time to learn how to speak properly while wearing your retainer. Don’t worry if you slur or stutter, you’ll soon adapt and feel confident speaking.
